Destination Dawah Code of Conduct & Agreement

To ensure a positive, respectful, harmonious and productive experience for all, we expect you to adhere to the following code of conduct:

1. Respect for ground team's efforts:
Respect for the charity's mission, goals and operational model.
Please make an effort to understand and align with our commitment to Dawah and community development.
There may be times when something doesn't make sense, kindly refrain from publicly addressing issues rather speak directly to your team leads in privacy to avoid causing any disruption or disrespect for the local dawah specialist's programme.

2. Cultural Sensitivity & Engagement with Local Communities:
Please show cultural sensitivity and respect for local customs and traditions.

Avoid actions or statements that may unintentionally offend or misinterpret local communities' cultural norms.

Please take special care not to interfere in Dawah conversations or religious discussions within the local community.

Please engage respectfully and attentively when community members share their experiences and stories.

Please note that your behaviour reflects not only on yourself but also on the charity and its mission.

Strive to be a positive and respectful ambassador for the organisation.
Make sure to never be alone with a local and avoid asking personal questions.

Do not hug children or women and maintain a safe distance at all times.

3. Ethical Communication, Engagement and Conduct:
Kindly foster a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, supporting one another in achieving our shared goals.

Please ensure to always be polite, courteous and behave in a respectful manner towards community members, fellow visitors and iERA personnel.

Please do not engage in confrontational or argumentative discussions in front of community members. If conflicts or disagreements arise, address them privately and respectfully with the designated team leaders.

Please strictly avoid creating an atmosphere of tension or disputes in front of the local community. We are there to observe and enhance their experience.

All parties joining this trip have a duty to encourage and empower the teams they engage with to do bigger and better things. Every member of this delegation has a duty to communicate honestly and ethically, avoiding exaggeration or misrepresentation of facts.
We request respectful and transparent interactions with community members and fellow visitors.

Please approach beneficiaries with empathy and compassion, recognising their dignity and worth.

Do not promise individual assistance or aid in any form (money/gifts) and avoid favouritism.

4. Privacy and Consent:
Please respect the privacy and consent of individuals and communities when taking photos, videos or gathering information and ensure to always seek permission before capturing images or sharing personal stories. Ensure to be mindful of women’s awra.
Kindly seek permission from your team lead prior to posting any content. This applies for all content being posted whether photos or videos.

5. Environmental Responsibility:
Every member of the delegation must ensure they behave according to the environmental guidelines provided during the trip, including waste disposal and conservation practices.

6. Adherence to Local Laws and Regulations:
Please ensure you comply with all local laws, regulations and permits during the trip.
Seek guidance from iERA personnel when unsure about local legal requirements.
7. Safety and Health:
Please prioritise safety and health during the trip, following all safety guidelines and instructions provided.
Please report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to iERA personnel.
Please note that each individual is responsible for their safety and security as well as their belongings on this trip. For your own peace of mind, we recommend that you do not bring along valuables other than what is absolutely necessary to travel with.

Please ensure that you have the relevant contact numbers of your team leads to hand as well.

Please report any incidents immediately to your team leads.

8. Reflection:
We encourage you to keep a journal or vlog of your reflections, time flies by quickly and a lot can happen in any given day so we would recommend that you capture your experiences as you go along. It may aid your fundraising content or story telling efforts by enabling you to take your families on the journey with you virtually.

9. Compliance with Code of Conduct:
You are expected to fully comply with this code of conduct throughout the duration of the trip. Failure to adhere to the code may result in the termination of the visit and you may be removed from the trip.

In consideration of participating in the Destination Dawah Trip organised by iERA, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. You understand and acknowledge that participation in the activities organised by iERA involves certain inherent risks, including, but not limited to physical injury, illness, property damage and emotional distress. I understand that I voluntarily assume all such risks.
2. You waive, release and discharge iERA, its personnel, volunteers and representatives from any and all claims, demands, actions or causes of action, whether in law or in equity, arising from or related to the Participant's participation in the Charity's activities.
You acknowledge that iERA may not provide insurance coverage for participants and that you are responsible for obtaining personal travel insurance coverage, including health and travel insurance, as deemed necessary.
3. You authorise iERA and its representatives to seek emergency medical treatment on your behalf if necessary and agree to bear any costs associated with such treatment, should this not be covered by my travel insurance.
4. You agree that iERA will not assume financial responsibility for missing your flight due to your own actions or negligence.
You will ensure that you do not promote, advocate or endorse hatred, violence against anyone, or any group, faith or community, in the UK or overseas.
5. You will not promote, endorse, glorify, support or praise terrorism or terrorist groups in any form.
You will not promote, advocate or endorse the breaking of any laws at home or abroad.
6. You will not promote or endorse any political party or candidate.
You will not raise or gather funds for any external organisation or cause during this trip.
7. You give permission to use your photograph in our work.
8. You will not use inappropriate language, misleading content, false information, apply emotional pressure/blackmail to donate funds, promise rewards (outside of islamic framework), be judgemental, engage in political campaigning, lobbying and advocating in your social media posts.
9. You have read, understood and agree to the terms and conditions of this Visitors Code of Conduct & Agreement.
